I'm new to the forum and look forward to learning from y'all..here's my scenerio..I have 4 Americanas I raised from chicks..no rooster..year 2, 1 hen got broody..no matter what we did she wanted to be a mom..so my cousin gave us a couple of booted millie fluer eggs and 21 days later 3 hatched..she was a great mom..and the other 3 hens didn't bother with them at all..the chicks started roosting under their foster mom on the deck of their coop along with the rest..but tonight I noticed my smallest hen roosting with a chick under her...my concern is ...is she being maternal.or trying to kill the chick...

Thank you so much for your reply...first time chicken owner ..i never knew they had such personalities..i am learning ...i know that they can be mean to each other sometimes so I worried they would hurt the chicks becuase they are a smaller breed..i appreciate you responding
