I could do it and get better hatch and survival without a train wreck. I handle birds, some as pets, have a real barn, and name some to boot. Plus I eat them. I know what I am doingLol any input given is great information. All I was saying is that if I try moving 2 broody hens off a nest to allow just one to sit the rest of the time it’s probably going to be a trainwreck.
I don’t cuddle my hens, I don’t play with my hens. None have names, they are well fed, well watered, I clean the coop weekly. So moving hens that aren’t exactly acclimated to people AND broody is just a recipe for disaster from my outlook.
I never said you didn’t know what you were doing. Never said I didn’t know what I was doing either. Point being this is my first having 2 goofy hens on one clutch of eggs. Sorry if you felt I was doubting your experience. Best wishes to you.I could do it and get better hatch and survival without a train wreck. I am doubt yours based on statements you have made. Learn from what you see and drop the concept of natural with birds having limited nesting options where natural dispersal mechanisms do not operate.I never said you didn’t know what you were doing. Ok well all intelligence questioning aside I tried separating both hens with little luck. They flipped their lids being separated. So as of now I’ve separated both hens, eggs and chicks from the flock and set them up in a separate coop. So we shall see how it goes from here.I am doubt yours based on statements you have made.
