Less violent than female humans in next door trailer park. Hens get dinged up but seldom is damage evident more than a few days later. Most damaging fights involve broody hens as more at stake than pecking order. Broody hens actually fight over territory that is essential for dependent chicks.

Yeah, I should have noted that the bad hen fights I've seen were indeed a formerly lower caste hen that went broody,
when she was let back into the main coop she kicked butt when challenged at the feeder.
