Hens Crowing Like Roosters - Need help!!

The feed store people are very nice but they are not experts I have gotten LOTS of mis information from feed store employees. Many of them own horses, or other animals not all are familiar with chickens. Thats why the employee said that

I have a very large hen who stopped laying about 2 months ago (as did the rest of the girls). She now has a large, red comb, crows and has a beautiful tail. I've also noticed she is developing spurs. She looks like a very handsome rooster and has moved up the pecking order from bottom to 2nd place.
I don't think anyone can tell the gender 100% just from looking at a chicken.
