Hello there!
This is not an emergecy but a concern of mine.
I have a Isa Brown hen that Ive had as a baby chick since Aug 31st 2013

Since shes older, shes been making that dinosaur sound when she communicates.
The past two days it seems squeaky and different. Not a high pitched but squeaky as if she has something stuck in her throat.

My question is, is this normal? Are these signs of her needing to have something to help (whatever it is) down her throat to digest?

She is eating and drinking normal.

Thanks in advance!

She may be getting ready to lay, and is practicing her egg song, LOL. Look into her throat--things like stuck objects or fungus infections such as canker can block the airway. Are there objects around the chicken yard that she could have swallowed? Can you post a video?

Are we able to post videos here? Theyre already "settled" for the night. I can take a video of it tomorrow morning.

Oh I forgot, no there isnt anything my chickens can swallow. Theyve been in the shed most the winter, and have a very secured run outside.

Ah okay, might have to remember my old youtube password!

Here is a video of her making those sounds. Before she was always making dinosaur noises. Now its something like this.

She seems perky and alert, but kind of like she is keeping her beak shut. I would just keep an eye out for any swelling of her face, eye, or wattles, or any nasal or eye drainage in case she might be getting any respiratory bug. But it is just probably her "new voice."

Thank you, I will defiantly keep an eye on her

Today she is doing well, her normal piggy self :)
