hens don't eat bugs?

I have 18 easter eggers and 2 roosters, we have so many bugs in our yard and they don't eat them, sometimes there's huge roaches that pass right in front of them and they'll pick at it but don't eat it, it makes me pretty sad because I don't want to use insecticides but the bugs are getting way outta control what can I do

Maybe they don't like the taste of cockroaches. I don't know but my birds seem to eat anything that moves.
