I have 10 hens. All good layers but unfortunately they keep eating their own eggs. I tried almost everything:
-golf balls and fake eggs in their nests
-oyster shell
-mustard filled eggs for almost a week (they ate those too and I tried all kinds of different mustard)
-made a slide in their nests so that the eggs just rolls into a compartment so that they won’t pick at it
-we made them 5 laying boxes but they only like to use in the same two
but some just lay their eggs on the ground and gobble them up so fast. They free range, we have a lot of bugs so lots of protein, they have unlimited accessible food and water, and my dog plays with them almost everyday so they’re not bored. Any suggestions to get them to stop eating their own eggs?
