So I went to collect eggs this morning and in one of the nesting boxes sat a hen that fluffed out her feathers and gave me the growl that means "I'm NOT moving and YOU leave me alone!" I said, "oh you want to be a mama do ya!" So, I gently lifted her to see what she was sitting on and what? no eggs? Just then, another hen jumped in the same nesting box and tried to see if the hen had eggs to! That one quickly laid an
egg and dashed out of the nesting box in a flash! And the new mama hen quickly pushed the other hens egg under her before I could grab it! I said, "Ok, don't worry, we let you be a mama" and I put all the eggs I had collected around the hen and watched her arrange them all just right so she can sit. Marked the calender for 21 days. Looks like we will have some new chicks again in a few weeks. I just wanted to share my little story with you.
