I did a knee jerk reaction to one of my Black Star hens yesterday. I was dusting her while she was sitting in my lap. She jumped off my lap and I instinctively grabbed her by her right leg and put her back on my lap. I did not twist her leg. I put her down on the ground after dusting and she hobbled off on her left leg, holding her right leg up. My heart sank and I knew I screwed up and knew I shouldnt have grabbed her like I did. I put her in the hospital cage in the garage where she's getting the royal treatment. She's eating and drinking well and even layed an egg yesterday afternoon. She was sitting in the cage leaning on her left side, favoring her right leg. This morning I checked on her and she is still hobbling like yesterday. There's no swelling at all with her right leg. I know time heals if it's a sprain or pulled muscle. I've been feeding her scrambled egg mixed with plain yogurt and canned beef catfood, nutra drench in her water and vitamin B sprinkled in her regular feed, her poops are normal. What do I do if her leg is dislocated? I'm really upset with myself and could use some advice.
