Hi so I'm still sort of new to being a chicken momma. As I went out to feed my girls this morning I noticed that one of my girls is missing feathers on her chest and her underside. Bright pink skin. She's also drooling alot. I'm very concerned but I don't have money for vet visit til Thursday. Anyone know what's going on and should I quarantine her?

Sounds like she is getting broody, they will pluck their feathers on the breast to line the nest. Did you check for mites that could be irritating her skin. The drooling is interesting though. Sometimes it isn't drooling, but too much water in the crop. Check her crop to make sure she doesn't have an impaction (hard golf ball) feel, or sour crop (mushy feeling smelly crop). If she is eating, pooping and drinking water she should be ok. Just, observe and write down anything that concerns you, so you can tell the Vet if you end up taking her in.

God Bless and welcome!

I just checked her. Her skin is really red and feverish. I didn't see anything on her skin, but it does smell. I checked her throat and I didn't feel any hard jumps. Opened her mouth and looked and she has some food in there.
Not much though.not seeing water though. I'm keeping her away from the fleet to be safe because she's my only girl in not so good shape. She has more than just breast feathers missing.

Can you post some photos of her - the skin, the feather loss, the food in her mouth along with photos of her poop?

You mention a smell - does the skin smell or is it her breath?
Does she have any mucous coming from her nostrils or watery eyes?
Is it food in her mouth that you see - or is it canker or lesions?
Does she have any scabs on her comb, wattles, face or beak?
Her crop - is it full, soft, squishy/boggy, hard, fluid filled or empty?

Separating her is a good idea - offer her plain fresh water and make food available.

Look forward to your photos and more information - hopefully we will be able to have a better understanding of what's going on and be able to give you some suggestions.
