Hello everyone on BYC. I am a brand new to the chicken life and am the proud parent of 5 little girs (hopefully!). Being new I was hoping for some input on whether I lucked out with my pullets. I have 2 Sagitta's, 1 Americauna, 1 Austrolorp, and 1 Speckled Sussex. They are about 5 weeks of age give or take a few days. The two Sagitta's are much bigger than all of the other birds which I have read is common but there is just not a ton of information out there about this breed. Thanks for any input you all might have. Cheers!

The fourth pullet is not an Ameraucana. Hatcheries don't sell true Ameraucanas. It is an Easter Egger. The last pullet is not a Speckled Sussex, either. It is a Barred Rock.

Thanks for all the input so far! To be honest I am so hoping that the first Sagitta is not a boy as that is by far the most friendly and tame of the whole group. Not allowed to have roosters in my area so that would present a problem. Also a bit bummed to hear that what the feed shop sold me as a sussex does not appear to be. Glad I know what I really have though. Again, thanks for the comments so far...greatly appreciated.

Feed stores are notorious for not knowing what the heck they're actually selling lol. Typically, unfortunately, the friendliest personalities turn out to be the roos. Pullets are usually the shyer.

it is the other way around.

So you would say that the pullets are generally the more friendly sex?

Grown, usually. I was referring to personalities as chicks. In my experience, roo chicks are usually the most friendly, nosy, outgoing.. As they grow, yes, hens may usually be generally more friendly than roosters. I've met plenty of wonderful roos, though.
