Folks
This has probably been asked before. is my flock mainly hens or roosters. They are just over 4 months I believe. only 2 of them have really large combs, most others smaller, and only one with really small comb.
The 2 with the largest combs are getting rather moody, I have bloodshed to prove it.
Just wondering if only the 2 meanest ones are roosters or all but one of them?
I was raised around chickens, but that was many years ago, we don't want to eat young hens, just not sure about boys or girls.
Thanks

Photos like this are always a bit tough - but I see a lot of elongated saddle and hackle feathers, and a lot of sickle feathers, which means boys. Third to last pic is definitely a hen though.

Pic five definitely has one roo, the one in the background of five might be a rooster too, can you get some closer pics?

Here are a few more that are closer. My thoughts are, we have one hen out of nine. only good part is my wife ordered 20 little ones, (supposed to be pullets), they showed up today

All the birds with those long, thin, shiny feathers near the base of the tail are male.

Pullet left, cockerel right

L to R, cockerel, pullet, cockerel, cockerel

all cockerels

L to R, pullet, cockerel, cockerel.

Looking at the second picture in your first post, I'd say you're correct, 8 cockerels and 1 pullet - pullet is the one in the middle of all the cockerels.

Thanks all, that's what I thought, just needed a 2nd,3rd, and 4th opinon. I have a plan for 8 of them. Just been a while. And may give some of them to neighbors.
