hens picking feathers! almost bald bird

What blu kite does is it makes the area that's been plucked purple and takes away the pink and red which is what they like to peck at. In my experience the chickens do not like the taste of the stuff and it helps heal any pecking wounds

I gather that blue kote should help with the pecking. we will see as we are trying a home made version with gentian violet (that required me to go to two drug stores & two health food stored before I found some. Mind you a small vial of powder), lemon essential oil & honey! That was a adventure in town finding all the stuff to make this!!! Apparently even tonight when hubby put the chickens to bed (a,k.a the ladies) tonight he noticed blood on some necks....not good....we will apply this to them tomorrow see how it helps to deter the pecking.....

I am in this boat too. I have 6 pluckers, no bugs,eat like queens, toys galore, room to run amok but they won't stop. will look up how to make what Claudiag mentioned. is it posted anywhere??I also upped protein level to 20% in feed and no luck and its three weeks later.

Theres a wound spray you can buy in pet stores I cant remember the name but basically its a antiseptic spray and it dyes the skin blue or purple,apparently the colour puts chickens off wanting to peck the bold spots.
