We have had our 4 hens about a month. They finally got into a routine & learned where their home is & then a raccoon came along. About two days ago at about 5:30pm I looked out & seen a raccoon on top of our hen house. I scared him off & my husband spent the rest of the night shooting off shots to scare it away. We haven’t seen it again... but now two of my hens won’t leave the coop! They came out when they heard me outside, but as soon as they know I don’t have snacks they go right back in.. we are on our second day of this. They seem healthy, look great.. are they just scared? What can I do to calm them? I’ve given them ACV in their water.
Thank you

Is there a way I can calm them? We have always had a few raccoons here (although that was the first day light coon) & with our other sets & they never seemed to notice, but the hens I have now are much younger than any others I have raised. I think that’s why it makes me so nervous that they are stressed. Their coop is a solid wooden shed/ house with wired windows. There is no doubt in my mind that they are safe in there, but I’d like to make them feel safer if I could.
