Hens run dark during the day

Over here in England it rains a lot, and my hens were getting soaked and didn't seem happy. So I've put down paving slabs to keep them out of the mud and left a big square spot which is for them to dig and play in. We have also just put a felted roof over the top of the run. The only problem is were there run is it's very isolated so there's no direct sunlight in the run because the of the new roof, so It makes it a bit dark in there. Is this a big problem? What should I do?

I guess it depends on just how dark it is.

Also, it is winter and pretty dark anyway right now.

If it gets the same as filtered light or dappled shade in the summertime....I would think it was OK.

If it is much darker than that, I would see about changing part of the roof to a clear plastic panel, or adding on to their run, so that they can reach a spot of sun.
