I recently was given a standard sized Sumatra to add to my flock of bantams. She started using a nesting box to sleep because the roosts are all too thin for her (she's a big lady compared to the rest of my chickens). Maybe the roosts just need to be wider for yours, too? I'm hoping that works for mine.
