My hens have always layed, even during the winter months. Even if it meant only one or two were laying. The new chicken just recently grew up and turned out to be a rooster. Now he's crowing all the time and mating with the girls. It seems that when all this started, they all stopped laying. Could having him in their coop be the reason for the stoppage? Should I remove him?

You might try removing him from your girls to see if that doesn't bring about an improvement. But I'm wondering....are you sure your girls aren't going into molt? This is the prime time for molting, although adding that rooster will cause stress to the hens.

I know a couple are molting, but the others already molted over 2 months ago. All their feathers have filled in. Since I'm in South Florida, it never really gets cold here. This is the first time they've ever gone this long without laying. I always get a few eggs, never a full blown stoppage. I'll give them a little time and then remove him.
