my fault , I wasnt clear when i reread my post. tiny shells on the ground or in the nest box. on the beak would be yolk or sticky. I am sorry.

Good point!I've not added external birds to my flock in years. All additions are coming from the grow out coop and not laying yet. But back when I did add birds from other flocks it only took two weeks for new birds to be integrated and start laying.
If it's taking five weeks you may have a density problem. Too many birds for the space making for longer integration times. Did they sell you males? Or older birds? Or are there a lot of feathers laying about meaning they are molting? If I purchased a laying bird there would be an egg in the crate I moved them in or next morning then they'd take a break for few weeks while adjusting. But if laying that egg that was in their reproductive system would come.
