Is this natural behavior? Last night I watched two of my black sex-links semi lie down (at different times) but their feathers were spread and the feathers on the head were standing straight up. They only stayed this way for a few minutes and then proceeded on as normal. It was a hot and humid afternoon- (Coastal Carolina)- could they have been hot?
