Hens to drakes

Hi all, I put an ad out to get rid of three of my hens. I had a few responses and a lady came by to take one. She then told me her flock consisted of two drakes, so I practically begged her to take another hen. She did, but i’m still so nervous about my hens now that I can’t rest easy. What happens when you don’t have enough hens for two drakes? Do the drakes fight, or do the hens have a horrible time of it? I’m so worried now..

What breed of ducks and drakes? Why did she not take all 3 now you have 1 by itself.

It can be over whelming for female ducks to have 2 drakes fighting over mating privileges or raping the females by ganging up on them She should have taken all 3 that would have helped some. The duck to drake ratio should be 1 drake to 3and up females.

Shoot, that’s my concern. I just wrote her and offered to take a drake off her hands so it would be more even. They are white layers. I still have a couple ducks I didn’t want to part with, so this girl isn’t alone.

Maybe she'll take you up on it. I am glad to hear you still have more so the one wouldn't be lonely and sad.
