Hello all, I have a small flock of four that I raised from tiny chicks. Back in May I "rescued" a small flock of three adult hens. I isolated them for three months while we added on to the run. Then I kept them separate in the run for another month. I finally put the newbies in the coop one night and from then on they roosted in the coop, albeit on the opposite side from the rest. There is some chasing and squawking but no injuries. Problem is now the newbies will not come down from the coop at all. They are afraid. They try to sneak down out of desperation it seems but any movement from the other group and they are right back up. Also my original flock will not go up during the day because the others are in there. NO ONE is laying. I can't close the coop door because that's where the nesting boxes are and it seems cruel. A few times out of pity I have shut the door between the two sections so the newbies can eat and drink but that doesn't solve the problem. Any advice?
