Ok so my hens are digging all the way down in my nesting boxes and I don't know why and there starting to cluck very loudly I'm very very anxious:D
 
Did they lay any eggs? They might be broody.

You might have to lift them up a little and look beneath them. Sorry, I just got chickens but that's what I'm thinking.
 
Pick up the chicken and look under her. If you type in "broody" in the forum search box at the top of your page you might find something in the archives that might help. Good luck!

Some hens get real busy while laying eggs. They sing the egg song (loud clucking) and spend a lot of time manipulating nest material.

I love sitting outside our coop an listen to a hens singing "the egglaying song"it's funny some times all the hens and even the rooster will join in!! lol lovely sound to me.
