Ducks and chickens will lay eggs in odd places. You can get fake eggs or even holf balls to put in the nests to give them the idea where to lay. Even now with some of my chickens I'll find eggs in the yard, under the roosts, and a few times, in my seed spreader I pull behind the lawn mower.

Today from my runner girls I had 3 eggs in the pen, 1 in the yard and 1 in the pool. They just squirt them out on the run. Runners aren't the most likely to go broody so I would just make a nice omlet!

I’ve had roauns and Peking’s before. They always made nest to lay so I’m confused by what the runners are doing. I had hoped they would hatch out some

i have runners that’s are 4-5 months old. Today I found an egg just laying in the middle of the yard. Not sure if I should move it
:welcome
You have come to the right place for questions on your ducks. Like others have said these babes will lay just about any and everywhere. Pool, sure why not?!? Mud puddle, why of course! Is that a random spot? Looks like a great place to plop this egg out! :gig
I lock mine up at night so they are trained to lay in their hen house. Bright and earlier 4-5am!! I will eat my eggs wherever they lay them as long as they weren't laid in the pool or a muddy water spot. When they lay their eggs they put this lovely protective coating on the egg to keep bacteria out, add water and that protection is gone!
