Here are my ideas on egg cleaning... suggestions?

Am I missing something... or is the active ingredient in this Chlorine?

It is, but it does not have any smell, like bleach, and not slimy when it gets on your hands. This is also the only product approved for fogging the coop, should you need to do that. I use it in the drinking water too, as instructed on the label.
I have a nipple system that is fed from a 5 gallon pail, through a hose to the waterer. It prevents algae from building up inside the system too.

It has recently been painted black to prevent UV from passing through!

According to the literature: Oxine was tested against chlorine bleach in killing E. Coli. It took 600ppm of chlorine bleach to kill it and only 3ppm of Oxine. Overall, it is considered to be 200 times more effective than bleach. It is the only disinfectant USDA and EPA approved for human, animal, and poultry drinking water.

You just don't use the "activator" with it when using it this way. The activator makes it like a super disinfectant for say the building. But even "un-activated" it kills every germ, virus, fungus, algae, whatever, that is known. Chlorine bleach does not. Plus, as has been mentioned, Chlorine bleach is likely to be hazardous if used this way.

For myself, I don't even wash my eggs. Rarely do they have anything on them but the stray one or two a month that do, I just leave it and rinse it off just before I use it.

Wow... this sounds like a super sanitizer .... wonder why Cackle and McMurray Hatcheries don't sell this stuff?

So where is the best place to buy it? Does it come in powder or liquid?

Thanks for sharing folks

The only place I found it was on Ebay. $24.95 + $11 shipping. You can look around the Internet, as I did, to try and find it cheaper, but I had no luck. Ebay was the only place.

It is amazing stuff and with one ounce treating 30 gallons, it should last a long time. 128 ounces per gallon = 3,480 gallons of treated water!
