My babies have arrived to their new home. Let's keep our fingers crossed for at least half girls. Does the feather method, pin tail feather method have any legitimacy to it in BCM?

Feather sexing is a trait specifically bred into chickens using a fast feathering rooster and slow feathering hen. So most chicks can't be feather sexed. Usually around 6-8 weeks old you can get an inkling of who's boys or girls so post some pictures around that age and someone should be able to give it a good guess.

Too early, and I would suggest you put pine shavings down for them. Paper bags are slippery, and could bring on foot problems.

Pine shavings going down today. I originally put down straw and this seemed to trip them up.
