~~Here be spooders!!!!~~ ( and other critters!!)

I finally got some isopods! Well, not from my cousin...She never sent me any🥲 But I got some dairy cows for my birthday!! They are adorable. But they aren't eating the food I'm giving them I don't think..
What do you give to them for food?

Leaf litter (dried), bark, and substrate is their main diet, because they're detrivores. Sometimes they like munching on veggies but normally theyre eating the substrate as they wander around their enclosure. Dairy cows also require a source of protein (ie fish flakes, cooked plain chicken, insect larvae) 1-3 times per week. And calcium, like limestone, egg shell, or oyster shell, which you should just mix in with their substrate. Remove anything moldy.

Search dairy cow isopod care online if you haven't already, there are a lot of helpful tips! Just make sure you're searching specifically for dairy cows, because different varieties and species have different requirements.

Thanks for all the info! Their substrate is a mix of 3 parts natural compost and 2 parts "disintegrated" pine pellets. I found the recipe on Aquarimax Pets (YT channel). I also provided a lot of bark and other wood for them to eat which I cooked in the oven at 300 degrees for 2 hours prior in order to eliminate any pests. They also have plenty of leaves in there for them and an eight of their enclosure is filled with a layer of sphagnum moss (damp) which is going to be their water source. I am going to get Supreme Gecko's Isopod Chow which I've heard a lot of great things about...Since you mentioned insect larvae...Can I feed them dried mealworms? I had given them a grape a few days ago but had to take it away because it grew mold very quickly. There is a piece of lettuce in there for them right now. I will go and get a piece of potato for them after I am done on BYC for the day lol... :) ☺️
