Here Comes The Molt

Production dropped from 9 a day to 7, 6, 4, and the few who stopped are starting to look a little harried, and Barred feathers everywhere. The new birds won't start till Sept to Oct. This is the first molt and they went 16 months. Can't complain. Just go 3 miles to another chicken keeper to buy eggs.

I thought they molted in the fall!

Over the years I have seen them do it in all seasons, even in the dead of winter.
