Here I Am Again... NOW, Day 21..All Four Have Hatched..DONE!

Cyn, Day 18 here, still not holding out much hope. What am I looking for if I do the float test? And how long past due date do I need to try it?

Bobbie, you can do the float test, I'd say after Day 22, but you can also candle if you have a bright light to use. You should see something in the aircell. If there is a huge aircell and no beak in it, then the chick is probably dead and "shrinkwrapped" in the membrane because it would be drying up. Sure hope you're wrong and you get at least one to hatch.

Yea me too, there doesn't seem to be any change in the eggs, I am hopeful on maybe one of them just not sure, a couple of them the RIR and BR have really porous shells or at least what I would call porous shells, I think that can make a difference, but, we will know in a few more days. You might as well add me to the list for more eggs, I really want some blue's, lol.

Going to take the turner out after the grandkids go home, and got humidity up to 60%

Raise the humidity to at least 65-70% when you take out the turner. 60% is a bit low for the last three days. And we'll get you some of those blues, one way or another, Bobbie! Both my Blue Orps are laying now, so no problem!

Yep just getting it started, now that the kids are gone I can get the turner out without 50 questions,

get the humidity up and pray. Thanks for all your help wish I thought I was going to have a better hatch for my sake and yours, but, Learning as I go.

Hey Cyn, Just thought I would let you know I think I got me a broody here, yea. I am getting 5/6 eggs a day now and she is setting on four. Probably a mix between a Brown Leghorn, Red Sex Link, possible RIR, and whatever the broody is, the Roos are possible SPW, Brown Leghorn, maybe even a banty, should be interesting to say the least.

What is the float test? After day 22? To see if the chick is alive? In water? Warm water? What will the egg do? Sink or swim? LOL.. Move?

I did candled.. I only see a dark mass. No "shrinkwrapped" or anything in the air cell. Will it be clearly visible for the untrained eye?
