Here to introduce myself

Hiya, and welcome to BYC!! :frow

We had problems our first year, then got a second dog so both of those help immensely. Also, solar motion lights scares them back at night so they won't come around during the day. Giant wind spinners help as well, especially for hawks.

Hi, sorry you're having problems with predators. If you free range, you might want to stop and keep the flock confined to a large, covered run.

Best wishes.
I actually had little problems with free ranging, though that is how I lost my guineas (they wouldn't go back inside at night). My birds were killed wile contained. Two dogs completely destroyed a chicken coop/run that I bought from Tractor supply and killed the chickens that I was just about to move in with my older girls. I had roosters in chicken tractors and something got to them (same dogs or fox/coyote maybe?). Anyway, I am rebuilding the store bought coop and the chicken tractor with reinforcement. My main coop has a 10'x20' run.
Thanks for the good advice. :)
