Here we go again French Marans hatching eggs arriving Saturday

I hatched my eggs at 100 degrees and 35% humidity for the first 18 days and moved humidity to 60% at lockdown. This will go up when chics start hatching. Keeping the temp as close to 100 degrees as possible humidity is going to very plus or minus. The hardest part is waiting 21 days! $24 FOR A DOZEN BLACK COPPER MARANS???

Barry what type of INCU are you using? Have you calibrated you temp and hydrometer?? The eggs that I hatched were not shipped, they were mine and Guy's. 19 out of 20 was great! Do not know if I can do it again. Shipped eggs are totally HARD! Your title "Here we go again" You have hatched before?? TOM

Good question and vital to do so....but it's hygrometer(sorry, pet peeve).

Marans eggs are frustrating to incubate because you can hardly see the air cell to adjust humidity, let alone tell if they are developing or not.

I've had several hatches although I'm starting from scratch where I am typically ship eggs do not have the same hatchability has eggs you scoop up out of the nest and I know that however when you have nothing to start with you have to start somewhere. The incubator that I have is probably not all that sophisticated has been used before successfully it measures and centigrade as opposed to Fahrenheit it does have a humidity gauge that seems to be rather sensitive as it alarms whenever it goes below 43% it's a binsea yeah I know not hardly a gold standard amongst incubators I have better incubators at the place where I left but I had no place to put them when I came down here I intend to change that

I've tried to candle dark egg before Copper Marans, Americauna dark green, and really dark cooper coloerd really difficult to make out details. Gonna wait until about day12 or 14 to look.

So they advise to rest one day, then put them in the incubator without turning for another 3 days? It would be nice if you could see in the air cells!
