Here we go again French Marans hatching eggs arriving Saturday

Now it's about the timing do you start the 21-day count the day you put the egg in the incubator as it was later on in the day for me or do you skip that day and start to count afterwards it's only a day difference I know but it could matter when I shut down the Turner

So after the 3 day sitting in incubator before turner on once turner on start counting?

It's not that I'm ignorant about incubating eggs I've done it many times I've never had to worry about setting the eggs though I took them out of the nest put them in the incubator. Even shipped eggs never heard of setting the eggs prior to the instructions the seller sent

Okay so I just got done candling the eggs are 8 left the others there was no indication at all of development the others that were left showed expanded air sack coupled with better than half the egg being totally dark wasn't checking for motion so that's not too bad I suppose that a 14 eggs
Has been noted previously the dark coloration of the shell makes looking for detailed very difficult

No, the counting starts once they are exposed to the incubator heat.
Turning stops on day 18 no matter when you started the turning.

IIRC you didn't turn for the first 3 days because you had shipped eggs with loose air cells?

I had the eggs sit for a day and a half prior to putting in the incubator to let the air sell set

Lock down. 3 more quitters I wish there was a reasonable explanation that causes the egg to die that late in the incubation

Okay so I'm down to one viable chicken egg I can see his little pointed beak pointing at the air cell so I expected to break into that anytime the other ones they look like they quit so out of 14 eggs I get one chick it's got to be the incubator. I'm in the process of looking for a much better incubator that has better humidity and heating controls before I go get any more eggs to hatch
