These hatched yesterday. One is very large so obviously he will be a cockeral. Two of them still need to fluff up a bit.

Are Cockerals always larger? I have two 11-day-old RIRs - the one that I am guessing is a roo has not developed wing feathers as quickly as my other 6 chicks, but it's also the smallest of the bunch. When I got them at 2 days old, this chick's wings almost looked as though they'd been clipped - they were just so much shorter than the wing feathers of the other RIR and other chicks. I'm still holding out hope that it's a "she". We'd hate to have to say goodbye.

Some of them really are larger. I Have had cockerals that were late bloomers too. I don't really know about the wing thing. Hope you get a pullet.

Julie, the color of your RIR's is just amazing! I can't wait to have some of my own.

Thank you very much for sharing.
