guess the title says it all. this was an ebay egg from blue lace red wyandottes but this chick certainly is not. she appears to be buff laced with barring on the buff. maybe will have a blue head, we'll see. currently is 4 weeks old.

I ordered BLRW but when I got them. One chick turned out weird like yours. Only mine isn't a splash mine is a black. Mine has the same weird buff barring sort of thing going one over her black though. Very strange.

That autosomal barring effect is pretty frequent the juvenile feathers of multiple lace pattern. Maybe you've got a pretty new colour there.

Why? Have you experienced this effect on birds which go on to have tidy, complete single lacing? I've only seen this effect on the juvenile feathers of the multiple laced pattern but not on decent single lace.
It is a few years since I had any blue laced wyandottes but I don't remember the splash laced having juvenile feathers any different to the other laced wyandottes (except the lace was splash.
