No thanks. I'm already paying 7% state/county/city sales tax. I can't afford another 9% federal sales tax on top of that.
No thanks for me too.
He's like the others so far, he can talk in a likeable way, but looking at his plan I am not a big fan.
Still undecided who I'll vote for. I probably won't decide until closer to election day, just to see who's in the actual competition.

Payroll tax would be slashed, prices would go down because business' tax burdens would fall. Those business' could afford to hire more workers. The tax system would be far more fair because rich people's deductions would go away. You could control your taxes by controlling your spending, but even increased spending would not cause the average worker to pay more than he already does in taxes. Actually, people would have more money to spend because more people would have jobs.
To all of those who don't like his plan, why not? Is it because you are amonst the 50% who aren't paying a thing at tax time, maybe even getting a child tax credit or a refund, which you have not earned.
Let me tell you, if you have ever started or run a business, and spent the first four months of the year, with that deer in the headlights look, staring down the barrel of the IRS gun, and being forced to fork over several hundred dollars to a tax preparer, just to be sure that your--- was covered, you would gladly welcome a flat 9% tax, even on the gross income...No FICA, which for the self employed, is almost 15% of taxable income, no medicare, and no need for an expensive business and tax accountant. There would be nothing to hide or any loopholes to jump through. How simple is that. Every taxform would require two lines....How much you made and 9% of that amount.
What a huge kick in the teeth to the onerus IRS. They wouldn't have anything to come back on you, for some silly form, which you or your accountant forgot to fill out, several years later, with accrued penalties.
It really is time we got over this whole covetousness/ jealousy mentality which has been fomented into our society, by politicians who just need some reason to make themselves needed by their constituencies. Besides, it's a sin, in the eyes of God.
That would be another reason for a flat or the Fair Tax....It would take away most of the powerbase of the politicians, because they could no longer wield favors to powerful people or organizations. There'd be no reason for anyone to approach Washington, because political favortism would be done away with, in a large part.
Well this thread isn't going to last. (sorry) Was surprised it has lasted this long. Sorry, but wow, what ever happened to keeping controversial politics down a tad?

So you don't pay any income tax at this point in time? If so, is your tax rate more than 9%? Do you spend all of your income on goods? If you spent every penny, the highest possible tax you might pay would be 18% of that amount, assuming you never buy used. You'd pay no capital gains tax on the sale of your home, or on investments, you would have no estate tax to pay if you die, or if you inherit from an estate. If you have a farm, no longer would your heirs have to worry to pay the estate tax on your land when you pass on.
In the meantime, the costs of doing business would decrease, because a business would be only paying 9% in taxes. Not only will that cause products to drop in price, you may get a raise, or a better job. You may very well find you pay no more or less than you do now for a given product, because the drop in price evens out the 9% tax.
