My little silkie roo does the stomping thing, he is about 14 weeks. It means PICK ME UP! I have a sebright that does the rooster dance for me and he wants picked up. When they started this I followed BYC advice and picked them up, they learned real quick that is gets them what they want. You may end up with a lap chicken, 1 of my 5 roos I raised from chicks is because of nursing through an illness, 2 are from this treatment. good luck

Definately pick him up and carry him around... I know it's repetitive advice, but it's excellent advice. I got 12 packing peanuts with a duck order once... Never had chickens before that, but always had lots of animals, so an ornery roo didn't scare me. I would not tolerate any misbehavior towards me at all... If any body started to dance, they got carried around and when they grew up, they were the nicest bunch of roo's ever! Granted, they would attack strangers, but I didn't care about that

(sorry, but it was really funny to watch a grown man being chased by 12 crazed roosters!!).

It's funny how that advice works for everyone else. It never worked for any of my roosters.

We ended up giving them all away because of their behavior, but not before trying everything else in the book first.
