im new to he quail world i literally fell into it when i found a hen on the side of the road by a busy intersection at midnight. i brought her home not even nowing whtit was,and she laid an egg the next day for me. mydad recoqnized as a quail because he used to raise them when he lived in Italy, but the wild type.
so i went out 2 weeks ago and i bought 3 more of what i thought where hens but so far only one of them is laying but the other 2 still haven't produced. im pretty sure one is a male(vent sexing method) but he hasn't started crowing yet any idea when he will start? they have to be at least 5 weeks or so old.
they are getting plenty of protein and calcium in their food, so i guess its just a waiting game for now. hopefully i could get all the hens laying.
