I grew up on a farm and we always had chickens. Recently I just got the bug that I wanted some again even though I have been away from the farm for longer than I care to say. I started looking around for chicks but ended up finding a fellow with 2 month old chicks and way too many birds to deal with (mentioned by his wife)
So I got 8 mostly grown girls for not much more than chick price.
On to the coop! It was a timber framed play house. You know the 5' x 5' with a yellow slide. Price? free! OSB for the sides? I had. House wrap? I already had. Just need some bags of crete to anchor the coop down so it doesn't blow away, wire fence, and some various pieces of lumber. Done done and done.
To say the least I think I made the coop too nice. The girls come down in the morning to eat and drink then an hour later they are all back in the coop. As much time as they spend in there I would think there was dish network, internet, and a hot tub up there.
Has been fun just like what I remember from being a kid.
