Ok in case you didn't get reference from name its in the thread title too.
Lol a quick story I saw a sign at the end of the road on the way home one night pointing to a menonite neighbor that said pullets for sale. I thought to myself "what the #@$! is a pullet?!? How do you even pronounce that? Maybe its french pronounced pullay? Qui qui haw haw."
Then I drafted my wifes friend to investigate. She came back with the word. "Its a young female chicken. " She said.
Then I started getting that itch. That chicken fever. After two weeks I couldnt take it anymore. I browsed the net and seen the ayam cemanis, rumpless double tufted aracauna, silver laced orpingtons and all sorts of breeds, I wanted em all! (Nothing has changed. )
Then I made my way over across the road. I (my wife) decided that we should start small and so I inquired of my neighbor, " Afternoon neighbor, do you still have any pullets for sale?" "Why sure", he replied. So I picked a buff orp who was dubbed Mary. Then a red comet I named Jane. (naturally)
That was May 2017. It didn't stop there. "These are the last chickens this year babe " Is a tired ruse by now. I found local (far as could get wife to go) reputable breeders of TRUE real deal no jive aracauna, ayam cemanis, silver laced orpingtons, (see what I did there) etc etc.
Even the holy grail Nancy Utterback Aracauna bloodline will be gracing my shanty chicken town of coops and runs and pens.(This weekend woo hoo!)
And now back to the original point of the story. One day my wife woke me up and said, "Get up babe we are going to a chicken show this morning. " I jumped out of bed and off we went with my father in law. We put our cages in the back of truck and then we pulled in to the Lawrenceburg chicken swap. My father in law looked at me with chickens dancing in my eyes and my wife with a cage in each hand, then he said "Were just some down home chick-en peo-ple." I loved it. So thats the name of my aspiring farm. Now to the intro questionaire....
