Hi I have been digesting this whole chicken thing for an entire year now in my usual fashion of 'throwing everything at the wall and see what sticks'. I have 18 chickens of various breeds, I am raising another 15 heavy breed birds for eggs, I have recently started ranging 11 small guineas in my garden and herd them back into a brooder coop every night. In a year I have encountered: brooder failure, animal attacks, respiratory illnesses, fatigue from working hard and not smart, cracked beaks, the use of chicken saddles, rapey roosters, seasonal coop disparities, incubator design, brooder design. I have also experienced what a happy chicken is, how fulfilling that taking good care of your flock can feel. This is part of what i was missing in life.

I have a few chicken owning friends here locally and they are probably so tired of my texts.
I decided that it's about time to start exploring the other chicken people and relish in the awesome ability of people to 1. design and build cool chicken infastructure and 2. have the collective ability to discuss it someplace like the internet or specifically BYC.

My name is Chris but i go by the name of the video game system my parents bought me as a kid because i like to keep my inner child alive at nearing 40.

Breeds go like:

Americaunas are fun. Theres a lot of variety in color of my flocks eggs which helped me learn who is laying and when. I have enjoyed finding the bluegreen egg.

I have recently built 41 egg incubator and my friend is breeding out some lavender orpingtons for me. I will be busy this summer.
