I grew up around chickens that my grandparent raised in Virginia.
My father in law and I had over 400 games, bantams, and mixed breed when I first got out the military, but got away from them when I went off to college.
Now after 30 something years my granddaughter has put the bug back on me to raise chickens once more.
My daughter and her family are planning to move back to East Tennessee shortly and the grandbaby told me, "Papaw I've got to have someplace to put my chickens'"
And I replied, "Your sure do, Honey, I'll see if I can't scrach out a place for those chickens."
So that is what I've have been doing this week, cutting down a stand of summac for a chicken lot.
Plan on ordering some chicks in April, to add to the few that the young'en already has.
My brother in laws are tearing down an old barn, so I'll have material to build a coop by the time the weather warms up.
