hey the silkies came with other birds the rooster at that. the silkies arent having an issue with any of the birds. its the rooster with the one he was already with the other orpington we have and hes been with her since day one . and they have plenty of room in there coop if they dont want heat but they need it they are at the oldest 3 weeks. and my coop is actually big enough for up to 60 birds. and my polish and polkies passed away we arent sure why but they were with the ones they came with since day one. Thank you though.Welcome to BYC! How old are your chicks? They may not need heat.
Also, I wouldn't put silkies or polish in with the other birds. I'd house them seperately. With that many, you are bound to have trouble. With 36 chickens you will need a very large coop and run. Best of luck with your flock!
Also the picture you see of the rooster is in a rubber maid tote hes not with the rest and hes only 2 weeks oldWelcome to BYC! How old are your chicks? They may not need heat.

Welcome!!!! You have a nice variety of breeds.Hey Guys!!! So i am so happy that I found this website. It has helped me out so much. This is my first year doing chickens and so far so good. I have 36 birds and they are all awesome friendly birds except for my buff orpington that is a rooster ill get into that in a bit. I have numerous birds and they are, Black sex links, Yellow leghorns, Rhode island reds, isa browns, silkies, easter eggers, blue laced gold Wyandotte, blue australorps, Orpington, silver laced Wyandotte, sapphire olive eggers, and welsummers. I also had polkies and polish 2 polkies and 1 polish of and they passed away randomly it was very weird they were fine when I went and checked them and then 3 hours later when I got back from the store my little polkie was in its water dish and my 2 polish were in the sawdust trampled it looked like i could barely see them it was very sad.. I just put them all into their big coop and they are all getting along very good. I live In Bradford, nh with my fiance and our daughter. She loves the chickens. So about my rooster that is not so nice we had him and 6 other birds in together before they went into the big coop one of them was another orpington they got along great when they were in a smaller space together now that rooster goes after her and he's mean throws her around and when she gets away he will look for her again after he pokes at all the other chicks. So we took him out last night and tried to do it again this morning and he did the same thing so we brought him back inside. He is so young so i dont want to give up on him but i don't want him to be mean to all my birds because the silkies are so little and hes big already. I have water and food in all the corners and one in the middle and enough heat lamps. It just doesn't make much sense because they have always been together the one he keeps going after and its not another rooster but she is pretty big for a pullet. any suggestions? or should i find someone that wants him? Thank you and I look forward to reading posts and learning more about backyard chicken farming
