I actually don't have any chickens due to where I live in the City

My family is me my wife and 2 wonderful kids

I work as a Postman/Mailman and I do see a family that has chickens so always love posting to that particular house haha!

This forum always shows up on Google and I wanted to join to provide value to the community and also connect with other Chicken parents

Glad to meet you. I spent several years day dreaming about chickens myself. More and more cities and states are passing laws and ordinances allowing some number of chickens even in town. If you don't already know for sure that you can't have chickens, you can call your town hall or homeowners association, or even a realtor. It is surprising how many townies can have chickens now. We have a growing list of laws and ordinances about chicken keeping. You can check there as well, to see if your location is included.

An alternative that is less obtrusive to neighbors is coturnix quail. They are smaller than chickens, so they take up less space. They are quieter too. Even the males' "crow" sounds more like a songbird. You get very small eggs, but they are very nice to eat. The birds are quite beautiful, and come in different colors. You can eat the birds, too, if you are so inclined. You do have to be careful to separate males and give them plenty of space.

But even just chicken dreaming is fun. This is a great place to learn more and find out about chicken keeping as well as lots of other poultry. Have fun browsing the forums and articles.
