im very new here and i wanted to learn more about breeding chickens..

originally from the Philippines and i came here in California back in 81.. we had lots of chickens in our back yard there, and i wanted to start raisin them again..

about a month ago, we had bought these 3 lil chicks from a pet shop and i had picture them growin to be like the chickens in the philippines.. but as they grow, ive noticed that 2 of them were males, but does not grow tails??

why is that??

Welcome to BYC

There is a breed of chicken called Araucana. It doesn't have a tail and is a rare breed. They are known for being blue egg layers so they have been used in the breeding Easter Egger chickens. Maybe you got some Easter Eggers from the pet store? They often have tails, but every now and again folks get a tailless one due to the genetic background from the Araucana.

Is it kind of like this one?

Easter Eggers are great chickens, usually good layers of blue, greenish, or other typical egg colors, and they are sometimes sold under the name Ameraucana.

Ameraucana is a pruebreed, and similar to Easter Eggers and often confused with them.

Post a picture in the "What Breed or Gender is This" forum and folks will help out better there.
