Welcome to BYC. It is very important to train you dogs that the chickens are 'off limits'. As many chickens are killed by dogs probably as are killed by other predators.

Dogs can be trained to respect chickens, but it would be a mistake to trust them with the chickens. Many chickens are killed by dogs, so the best thing to do is keep them separated.

Hi and :welcome

I agree with the others, make sure your dogs don't have any access to the chicken coop.
Good luck and enjoy your chickens :)

Hello and

I agree with the above posts. Dogs do like catching chickens, but they can be trained not to.

Hi and

from Australia.
I suggest that you keep the dogs and the chickens apart, but also train the dogs so that they won't harm the chickens. Even if so, still remain with them any time you decide to let them out together.

Good luck!
