Ive found this site to be very use full over the last couple of months. I started with 2 hens and 1 roo about 4 months ago and added two RIR's this weekend that Ive had in the brooder. Everything was fine for the day and when we came home from dinner I found my new ones severely beaten up. I had to put one of them down and the other I have on antibiotics in my spare bedroom in a crate. Ive cleaned her and put peroxide on her she has gotten very attached since I got home from work. The Roo is the one that committed the crime so he is out of the pen for good. My question is what do I do know with only one chicken. If I am able to get her back in shape should I try and find a chick her age and keep them separate from the older ones until they are as big as the older ones or could be adding another chick with her be just as worst?
 
Welcome to BYC. I would wait til the one chick has grown in size before introducing her with the others. When the time comes, put her in a "grow out pen" where there can be no physical contact with the others. This will give time for all the birds to get used to each other. At sundown you could bring her back in the house. A couple of weeks doing this should be good enough, then you could release her with the others.

Thanks for the input. Do you recommend putting neosporen on her wounds (feed store recommended it but looked confused when telling me that) or just keep her clean and warm? Wife isn't to thrilled about a chicken in the house, just don't want the gnats to have a go at her in the garage. So if there is anything else I can do to help with the recovery, I'm all ears.
