Hey all!

I've been itching to get back into the hobby, and hopefully soon I will be!

As a kid/teenager I raised many types of Bantams, Seabrights to silkies, and everything inbetween. 53 total birds in a relatively suburban neighborhood, much to my neighbors delight. Free eggs shut them up about the crowing. LOL

This time around I plan on focusing on Longtails and breeding to increase tail length on the Roos, just for fun. Researching now so that I'm ready when hubby buys us a hobby farm. (I also chose mini horses, Lamancha goats, perhaps making mini mules to pull carts, and of course German Shepherds, my favorite breed)

Currently I'm without a zoo, while I wait on my husband to medically retire from the Army. Just have 2 German Shepherds, a fancy female from Germany named Aga Vom Kleinen Holzchen, but we call her Ricca. And Logan, aka Logi-Bear, who's a rescue pup of dubious breeding. Purebred... but by no means a blue ribbon winner, unless the show is based on temperment. In which case he'd be in the money hands down. Sweetest dog ever, very loyal, and not at all crazy like Ricca is. (she's crazy in a good way though)

As a kid I spent a lot of time hatching eggs, keeping a breeding log, and making "hybrids" and learning a little bit about genetics and possibilities. Non of it directed by a parent, before the days of knowledge being one click away, it was all self taught. So I'm having to re-learn what I was wrong about... and it seems to me, the only knowledge I was solid on was incubation and chick rearing.

I also did wildlife rehab volunteering for rabbits, squirrels, birds, and coons. Volunteered at the Cincinnati Zoo, showed Italian Greyhounds, trained for Obedience with my old cattle dog, and rode horses when ever I could. Never did do 4-h though.

No children (unless the husband counts??), we're 27 years old, still waiting on a good time to start (if ever). That's all, happy to be here to learn more chicken stuff!
