I was working in the pen that houses my miniature goats and knelt down to discover a nest in one of the little shelters. There were four lovely green eggs.

I now know why production seems to be down for Easter Egger Audrey and why she's been dashing into the goat pen (actually, she and sister EE Evie, who lays pinkish eggs, have always been interested in the goats' pasture).

In all fairness to Audrey, EVERYBODY likes to come into her coop and lay in her favorite nest box. However, it's extremely lucky that Greta, the goat who favors the "nesting" shelter didn't scramble those eggs before I found them!

Oh man...! Close call! We’re thinking of goats too. We’ve got to finish the aquaponics system first though... then on to the barn...!

Audrey, BTW, still wanders into the goat pen but has decided that her own nest box is a better, safer place to leave eggs.

Goats are the reason I moved to the country. After 4 years in town, someone (not the city inspector, he already knew), discovered that my 4 little goats lived within 200 feet of a neighbor's property line and they had to go ASAP. I literally bought an acreage so I could keep them.

Hope you get through your gotta-do list and get to the goats!
