(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I'm actually going to be keeping quail in the spring. We have all the wood for our first hutch, and multiple incubators, and a brooding system and EVERYTHING. But with the weather as weird as it is we're waiting until mid-March to order our first eggs.
(2) How many quail do you have right now?
None!
(3) What breeds do you have?
We plan to keep jumbo coturnix quail when we get them.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Fresh eggs and meat, not to mention free disposal of scraps and manure for compost.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I run a 3D printing business selling egg turner trays, quilt, knit, and do lots of gardening.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I'm married with a 3 year old daughter and a 20ish year old cat, and a lovely husband. I'm a software developer with an English major (which is a unique enough combination I'm sure someone's going to know me IRL!).
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I was doing a prestige search on Google for my business and found a thread talking about my turners; I wanted to join to get and share info, as well as to gather feedback and communicate with customers.
