Just joining the conversation but have been reading for some time. Thanks for being a great source of information!

We got our girls at the end of March. 4 Leghorns, 2 Buff Orpington, 2 Speckled Sussex. We lost one of our leghorn as a pullet. But the 7 have been doing great. As expected from my research our leghorns started laying first. Then the buffs. We’re still waiting on the Sussex... I’ve heard they can take longer and I read Sumi’s article. I need to try checking them to see if their bodies are ready. Just as 1st time chicken owners I worry we’re doing something wrong. But they all seem very happy.
