(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I'm not new to chickens, as I grew up helping my grandparents with their chickens, but I am however new to keeping them myself. I have kept quail myself and absolutely love it. Upon relocating, I've decided to keep chickens.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
My chicks arrive tomorrow morning!
(3) What breeds do you have?
I have several breeds coming in: Americauna, Whiting Blue, Whiting Green, Blue Andalusian, Arcona, Delaware, Silver Laced Wyandotte, Golden Wyandotte, Black Minorca, Red Star, White Polish, and Cuckoo Maran. Chicken math is a real thing, because I was going to start with 5! LOL
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I love how individual there characters are, love the eggs and sharing them, loved them as pets growing up. I'm working on my garden and wanting to provide my family with healthy foods while nurturing and diverse yet symbiotic ecosystem.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I'm a potter and a painter, and enjoy photography and gaming, and I even stream sometimes.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have 2 dogs, 3 cats. Mother to two. My work is in my garden and online.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I joined this community years ago, when I began keeping quail. I absolutely loved it and hope to do so again in the future. It was all new to me, and the information I found here at Backyard Chickens was invaluable, and the forums resourceful.
